Join fellow Forum attendees for a memorable evening at Winkel van Sinkel, one of Utrecht’s most iconic and atmospheric venues. Beautifully situated along the historic Oudegracht canal, this remarkable landmark combines elegant 19th-century architecture with the vibrant energy of modern Utrecht.
Originally commissioned by Anton Sinkel and completed around 1839, the building became home to the very first department store in the Netherlands. Over the years, it has served many roles — from bank to cinema — before evolving into the lively restaurant and events venue it is today. Rich in history and full of character, Winkel van Sinkel remains a beloved gathering place in the heart of the city.
The evening will begin with welcome drinks from 19:00, followed by dinner at 19:45. Guests can look forward to an enjoyable and relaxed atmosphere, excellent food, and the opportunity to connect with fellow participants while experiencing one of Utrecht’s most unique and historic locations.
With its grand interior, canal-side setting, and central location, Winkel van Sinkel provides the perfect backdrop for an evening of conversation, networking, and celebration.
Getting There (On Foot)
From Crowne Plaza Utrecht, walk towards Stationsstraat and turn right onto Catharijne Esplanade. Continue straight ahead as the route becomes Hollandse Toren.
At Vredenburg, turn left and shortly afterwards turn right onto Zakkendragerssteeg, which leads towards Utrecht’s historic canal district. Continue until you reach the Oudegracht canal and turn right.
Cross the canal via Jansbrug bridge and turn right once more onto Oudegracht. Continue along the canal, where Winkel van Sinkel will be located on your left-hand side.
The walk takes approximately 10–12 minutes and offers a pleasant route through Utrecht’s lively and picturesque city centre.
