JSON Export Schema Workshop

The JSON schema allows IXPs to export a structured member list, and will soon be used by the Euro-IX website as an alternative to the current CSV exports.

This workshop will cover:

  • What is the JSON Export Schema and why is it needed
  • How the data is used
  • How to implement the schema using typical IXP toolsets
  • How to access and use the database API

For further information about the JSON export schema, including a list of IXP implementations please see:

Barry O'Donovan Dublin , Ireland

If you want to confuse Barry, ask him where he’s from: born in Cork, spent his formative years in Galway and married into Dublin. He got a honours degree in Maths, his first love, from NUI, Galway in 2001 and went on to do four years research in information theory in UCD’s Computer Science department.

It was 2008 when Nick Hilliard, INEX’s CTO, approached Barry to provide a couple days operational support to INEX. Little did Barry realise what a huge part of his life INEX would become – both here in Ireland supporting INEX’s infrastructure and membership but also as part of the larger European and international IXP community.

Barry is also the lead developer of IXP Manager (www.ixpmanager.org) – a full stack management system for IXPs which includes an administration and customer portal; provides end to end provisioning; and both teaches and implements best practice. INEX is very proud to say that this project is now in use at over 60 IXPs.

Benedikt Rudolph Frankfurt , Germany

Bijal Sanghani London , United Kingdom

Bijal Sanghani is the Secretary General at Euro-IX based in London, UK.

Bijal’s experience includes DNS management for DEMON Internet, Provisioning Engineer at Level 3, Senior Operations Engineer at FLAG Telecom and Reliance Globalcom where she was involved from the beginning to build the FLAG IP network. In 2011 Bijal moved from an operational role to the top management role at Euro-IX. Euro-IX is a non-profit membership association for Internet Exchange Points (IXPs). In her role she brings the members together to share ideas and experiences on technical, commercial and regulatory matters, and works on other IXP related projects such as the IXPDB (IXP Database) and support programs to help IXPs in need. Bijal has grown the membership by over 90% since she started in 2011.

Bijal has been involved with the Peering and Interconnect Community since 2003, she’s been a RIPE NCC Services Working Group Co-chair since 2005 and served on the UKNOF Program Committee from 2006 until 2014. Bijal was elected on to the PeeringDB Board in 2017 where she currently serves as a Director.
